Beautifully appointed and equipped with a full complement of Raymarine electronics along with several desirable upgrades, she’s ready for cruising to the destination of your dreams. Her traditional, timeless styling is unchanged from even the newest KE52’s.  As she carries the same engine package as current offerings, her performance and efficiency, whether cruising leisurely at 9 1/2 knots or making time at 16, are consistent with a brand new Krogen Express.  She’s just had her scheduled engine maintenance completed, brightwork freshened, and hullsides waxed so she’s ready for immediate delivery to her new owners.  For a detailed listing of the specifications and equipment on the Krogen Express 52′, a virtual tour, and additional photography, please visit our web site.

Hull Design
Designed by James Krogen, the KE52 combines classic, timeless style with exceptional seakeeping and efficiency. Her plumb stem, raised bow, and broad beam forward allow her to slice through the waves with ease while providing surprising space in her accommodations. The KE52’s low profile allows her to get under bridges as low as 16′ and with a draft of just 4′, she’ll take you places most 50 footers won’t. Her semi-displacement hull delivers trawler efficiency at displacement speeds with true cruise capabilities in the mid-to-upper teens. The generous keel provides stability and protection for her twin 26×26 propellers.

Krogen Livability
Boarding a Krogen Express couldn’t be easier with a large transom door and wide boarding gates on either side of the spacious, covered teak-soled cockpit. Ample storage for lines, fenders, cleaning supplies, bicycles, and more, is provided by the cavernous lazarette below, which is unencumbered by ship’s equipment. Entering the salon through double, weathertight aluminum doors, her owners are treated to an inviting cherry wood interior. Along with her sumptuous joinery, old world craftsmanship is obvious with the quality of her appointments and overall fit and finish. Legendary Krogen livability is evidenced by the large sliding side windows and generous headroom along with the integral galley-up design. Comfortable blue Dutch chairs, looking nearly new and perfect for additional seating at the table for dining, are to port.  The L-settee to starboard, nicely appointed in neutral blue gray fabric, is ideally situated for enjoying the built-in Samsung LCD TV and upgraded Bose 3-2-1 home theater system.  With considerable additional underdeck storage to port, abundant space can be found under the settee as well.

Located to starboard, the comfortable L-shaped settee has storage beneath and a nice end table forward. The cherrywood hi-lo table has leaves that fold out for expanded seating capacity and can be moved outside for dining al fresco on those perfect days on the hook. The settee is covered in casual light blue-grey fabric, colorful throw pillows, and attractive striped curtains providing privacy and protection from the sun.

The 52’s gourmet galley is located where her chef can always be part of the action. She’s well equipped for meal preparation with a 3-burner, Force 10 propane range, 14 cu. ft. refrigerator, GE microwave oven, and double basin undermount sink with pullout sprayer faucet. Neutral Corian countertops are elegant and easy to maintain, complementing any decor, and the raised section is ideal for serving the crew. Traditional, round port lights provide ventilation, while abundant storage ensures a good home can be found for any and all provisions. Beneath the starboard side bookcase, the U-line ice maker frees up space in the ice box and ensures drinks will be well chilled.

Pilothouse Helm
The proper centerline helm console in the raised pilothouse is equipped with a full complement of navigational electronics, all within easy reach of the like new Buff Ultraleather Stidd helm chair. Accurate Teleflex Morse controls allow smooth control of the 480 Yanmars, while her rudders are guided by a custom, handcrafted cherry helm wheel.  The navigational electronics include dual Raymarine E120 color radar-chartplotters integrated with precise ST8002 autopilot and includes a terrific wireless remote control. Video signals from engine room and stern cameras along with the standard satellite TV system are also displayed on the E120s, and the owner additionally installed an ST60+ wind meter.  A dedicated depth display adds redundancy (there are two transducers) while a Uniden VHF radio ensures good communication when required. Backup Garmin chartplotter, GPS, and data logging capabilities are provided by the color Garmin 492 mounted overhead. Two large chart drawers and a wide, lighted table to starboard allow for easy storage and use of paper charts. A Side-Power 11 hp bow thruster accompanied by twin screws assures comfortable close quarters handling. Controls for the dual trumpet Kahlenberg horns, intermittent Exalto wiper/washer system, Maxwell windlass, and Lenco trim tabs are all close at hand. Music is provided by an amplified Pioneer AM/FM/CD sound system which is easily reached from the helm chair, creating the perfect ambiance.

Pilothouse Settee
The pilothouse settee, covered in classic soft blue fabric and in perfect condition, is properly elevated as a true watch berth for excellent forward visibility, long enough for naps underway, and converts to a 3/4 double bed to accommodate overnight guests. Her owners commissioned a clever curtain system to provide privacy for overnight guests slumbering in the pilothouse.  A table provides a convenient work surface and the wall mounted lamp to starboard makes this an ideal location to retire with a good book. Above the settee, a color coordinated half hull model showcases her elegant lines and makes for interesting conversation. Beneath the settee are several small lockers for equipment storage. High quality, weather tight Dutch doors lead directly to the wide side decks, while stairs to the port side of the settee provide safe and convenient access to the flybridge. Textilene screens for all pilothouse windows provide sun protection to keep the joinery looking new for years to come.

Guest Stateroom
The GSR features a pair of comfortable twin berths flanking a spacious hanging locker, an excellent layout unique to this KE52′ that her owner’s guests have very much enjoyed.  Beneath both berths are various sized drawers to provide ample additional storage while bookshelves above provide a secure spot for reading materials.  A handy step provides easy access to the taller berth situated aft.  Along with surprising headroom, two port lights and a screened hatch overhead make the GSR light and airy, while at night, overhead and wall mounted lighting is available for each occupant.  A floor hatch leads to comfortable access to key systems. A sizable full head is located across the companionway.

Master Stateroom
A true queen island berth is the centerpiece of the master stateroom. With over 7′ of headroom and daylight supplied by 4 ports and a large screened deck hatch, the MSR feels unusually vast for a motoryacht this size. The standard queen-sized mattress does not require custom linens and you can easily access the head of the bed to make it back up in the morning. Large hanging lockers on both sides, 6 deep drawers below the berth, and a dresser with drawers and shelved storage ensure her owners have abundant room for their belongings. A power lift raises the berth to reveal cavernous storage beneath along with a dedicated battery bank for the windlass and bow thruster. The ensuite head features a molded fiberglass shower stall with seat, Vacuflush head, and Corian countertops.

Flybridge & Boat Deck
While her pilothouse is fully capable, most Krogen Express skippers prefer running their vessels from up top where they can better experience her remarkable capabilities. Conversations are easy, as little engine noise makes its way up there, leaving only the soothing sounds of sea breezes and ocean waves with which to compete. A large, foldable bimini protects the captain sitting in the comfortable, raised centerline deluxe Pompanette helm chair, where wind and waves are all that can be heard. Navigation support includes another 12″ Raymarine E120 color radar-chartplotter, a second autopilot control head, and a large Danforth compass. Controls for the bow thruster, trim tabs, windlass, and amplified stereo are close at hand. The 4′ open radar array and satellite TV dome are mounted on an attractive aluminum spar-style mast that can be lowered when needed. The L-settee with Sunbrella cushions provides comfortable seating for crew and guests and contains storage beneath for the extensive canvas package. Situated aft of the settee, the open boat deck will easily accommodate a set of folding teak chairs and serves as access to the gorgeous upgraded 11′ Nautica luxury tender. This is the ideal place to enjoy that cup of morning coffee or catch a beautiful evening sunset. The dinghy, with a raised console and seating for four, is powered by a oversized 40 hp 4-stroke Yamaha outboard and launched with the fully hydraulic Nautical Structures davit. Place the included folding bikes in the tender and you are ready for an enjoyable shore excursion.

Engine Room & Systems

An exceptional and amazingly clean stand up engine room houses a pair of 480 hp electronic Yanmar diesels which can be easily accessed all around. The engines are fired by dedicated 8D starting batteries and drive through matched Kanzaki transmissions. Vibration is kept to a minimum with the standard Aqua Drive systems. The 12 kw Northern Lights genset sits on the centerline and has its own 4D starting battery, isolated from the others to ensure she cranks every time. A Reverso fluid changing system is connected to both engines, both transmissions, and the genset to improve serviceability, while a fuel transfer pump makes equalizing the tanks a breeze. As with the water tanks, diesel fuel levels can be easily accessed with convenient sight glasses. An automatic fire suppression system, freshwater washdown, and storage for tools and supplies above and alongside the water tanks are additional features welcomed by her owners.

Located in a separate spacious bilge area, away from the heat of the engine room, are the three CruiseAir reverse-cycle A/C systems. In the same compartment is a 20 gallon stainless steel hot water heater which is supplemented with heat from the main engines. Fresh water is supplied by a high quality Headhunter X-Caliber pump.

Beneath the salon, the 2500 watt Mastervolt inverter, battery charger, triple 8D house battery bank, and 75′ shore power cord Cablemaster drum storage are also easily accessed.
