Hull Design
Designed by James Krogen, the KE52′ combines classic, timeless style with exceptional seakeeping and efficiency. Her plumb stem, raised bow, and broad beam forward allow her to slice through the waves with ease while providing surprising space in her accommodations. Her low profile allows her to get under bridges as low as 15′ and with a draft of just 4′, she’ll take you places most 50 footers won’t. Her semi-displacement hull delivers trawler efficiency at displacement speeds with true fast cruise capabilities in the upper teens while her generous keel provides stability and protection for her twin 26″ wheels.

Krogen Livability
Boarding a Krogen Express couldn’t be easier with a large transom door and wide boarding gates on either side of the spacious, covered cockpit. Ample storage for lines, fenders, cleaning supplies, and more is provided by the cavernous lazarette below. Entering the saloon through double, weather tight aluminum doors, her owners are treated to an inviting handcrafted cherry wood interior. Along with her sumptuous joinery, old world craftsmanship is obvious with the quality of her appointments and overall exceptional fit and finish. Legendary Krogen livability is evidenced by the large, sliding side windows and generous headroom along with the integral galley-up design. Comfortable leather Stressless chairs to port and a built-in L-settee to starboard are perfectly situated for enjoying a 26″ HD LED TV and home theater system. To port is generous additional underdeck storage and two built-in bookcases featuring fiddled shelves and still more locker storage.

Saloon Settee
Located to starboard, the comfortable L-shaped settee has storage beneath and a built-in end table forward. The custom cherrywood hi-lo table has leaves that fold out for expanded seating capacity and can be moved outside for dining al fresco. The settee, neatly tailored with supportive knee bolsters, is adorned with custom neutral fabric while stylish HunterDouglas Vignette window treatments provide privacy and protection from the sun.

The 52’s gourmet galley is located up where her chef can be part of the action. She’s well equipped for meal preparation with a 3-burner, Force 10 propane range with oven, 14 cu. ft. refrigerator, GE microwave oven, and deep Elkay sink with pullout sprayer faucet. Elegant granite countertops will complement any decor, and the raised section is ideal for serving the crew and guests. Classic round portlights provide cross ventilation while abundant storage ensures a good home can be found for provisions sufficient for extended cruising. Beneath the starboard side bookcase, the U-line ice maker frees up space in the freezer and ensures drinks will be well chilled.

Pilothouse Helm
The centerline helm console in the raised pilothouse can be equipped with a full complement of new electronics of your choosing, all within easy reach of the fine Buff Ultraleather Stidd helm chair. Precise digital shifters allow smooth control of her 440 hp Yanmar twin diesels while her rudders are guided by a custom, handcrafted cherry helm wheel. Color radar-chartplotters can be integrated with the precise auto pilot which includes a convenient wireless remote control. Video signals from engine room and stern cameras along with the standard Intellian satellite TV system are also displayed on the chartplotters.  A secondary color depth display would add redundancy while a Raymarine VHF radio would ensure clear communication when required.  Dedicated drawers and table facilitate the use of paper charts. A Side-Power 11 hp bow thruster coupled with an 8 hp stern thruster provide assistance for precise close quarters handling while the TRAC Stabilizers can be easily activated from the convenient panel to substantially reduce rolling motions in beam seas.  Controls for the dual trumpet Kahlenberg horns, intermittent Exalto wiper/washer system, Lofrans windlass, and Lenco trim tabs are all close at hand. Entertainment is provided by an amplified Fusion sound system, integrated with the Dish TV system to provide satellite music and other programming.

Pilothouse Settee
The pilothouse watch berth is elevated for optimal forward visibility, long enough for naps underway, and converts to a 3/4 double berth to accommodate overnight guests. A small table provides a convenient work surface and wall mounted reading lamps make this an ideal location to retire with a good book. Above the settee, a color matched half hull model showcases her elegant lines and efficient, sea-kindly form. Beneath the settee are several small lockers for equipment storage. High quality, weathertight Dutch doors lead directly to the wide side decks while stairs to port of the settee allow convenient access to the flybridge.

Guest Stateroom

An L-settee that converts to a double berth highlights the flexible nature of the guest stateroom while the Pullman berth provides additional sleeping capacity. Located inboard is a large desk with drawers. A deep hanging locker and huge drawers under the settee provide ample storage. Two port lights and a screened hatch overhead make the GSR light and airy while wall-mounted lamps allow for reading at night. A full head, complete with stand-up shower and granite counters, is located across the companionway.

Master Stateroom
A true queen island berth is the centerpiece of the master stateroom. With over 7′ of headroom and light provided by 4 ports and a large overhead hatch, the MSR feels surprisingly generous for a motoryacht this size. Hanging lockers and smaller cubbies to port and starboard, 6 deep drawers under the berth, and a dresser with both drawers and shelved storage ensure her owners have ample room for their belongings. A power lift raises the berth to reveal cavernous storage beneath along with a dedicated battery bank for the windlass and bow thruster. The ensuite head features a molded fiberglass shower stall with a seat, Vacuflush head, and an elegant granite countertop.

Flybridge & Boat Deck
While her pilothouse is fully capable, most Krogen Express owners prefer operating their vessels up top where they can better experience the surroundings underway. Conversations are easy with only the soothing sounds of sea breezes and ocean waves to savor. A frameless venturi windscreen deflects air above the captain sitting in the comfortable, raised centerline Stidd helm chair.  Navigation support would be customizable. Controls for the bow and stern thrusters, trim tabs, windlass, stabilizers, and stereo are close at hand. The 4′ HD digital open radar array and Intellian satellite TV dome are mounted on a sturdy and stylish aluminum spar-style mast that can be electrically lowered when needed. Shaded by a color coordinated Sunbrella bimini top, the L-settee with matching cushions provides ample seating for crew and guests and contains storage beneath for the extensive canvas cover package. Situated aft of the settee, the open boat deck will easily accommodate a set of folding teak chairs and serves as access to the tender. This is the ideal place to enjoy that cup of morning coffee or catch a beautiful evening sunset. The 11′ Skipper deluxe tender, with a raised console and seating for 4, is powered by a 40 h.p. Evinrude E-Tec 2-stroke outboard motor and launched with the fully hydraulic, extendable Steelhead davit.

Engine Room & Systems
An exceptional walk-in, walk-around, stand-up engine room houses a pair of 440 hp Yanmar twin diesels which can be easily accessed all around. The engines are fired by dedicated Mastervolt AGM starting batteries and drive through matched ZF transmissions. Structure-born noise and vibration is well controlled with the standard Aqua Drive systems. The 12 kw Northern Lights genset sits on the centerline and is easily accessible.  ABT-Trac stabilizer actuators sit outboard of the engines and all components are easily serviceable.  A Reverso system is connected to both engines, both transmissions, and the genset to make for easy fluid changes, while a Groco fuel transfer pump makes equalizing the tanks a breeze.  Water and fuel levels can be easily assessed with convenient sight glasses.  An automatic fire suppression system, freshwater hose bib, and storage for tools and supplies above and alongside the water tanks are additional features welcomed by her owners.  Located in a separate spacious bilge area, away from the heat of the engine room, are the three CruiseAir reverse-cycle A/C systems. In the same compartment is a Torrid 20-gallon stainless steel water heater which includes a heat exchanger from the Yanmars. Beneath the salon, the 4000 watt Mastervolt Combi inverter/charger, quad 8D MasterVolt AGM house battery bank, and Cablemaster drum storage are also easily accessed.
