Overview

Mystic truly represents a one of a kind opportunity.  As the only Krogen Express 52′ on the West coast, she’s the obvious choice for those wishing to cruise from LaPaz to Anchorage.  Explore San Francisco Bay, her current berth, then head north to the San Juans, up the Inside Passage, and on to Alaska.  Then bring her south and enjoy southern California, Catalina, and the magnificent Sea of Cortez.  When you’re ready (if ever) it’s easy to have her transported from LaPaz to Fort Lauderdale to begin your eastern adventure, all with the support of the Krogen Express team.

Mystic’s stunning Stars & Stripes Blue hullsides turn heads wherever she goes and contrast nicely with her Navy Blue canvas.   Originally commissioned in late 2011, her two owners have accumulated just over 2000 hours on her twin 480 h.p. Yanmar turbo diesels.  Recent upgrades include Raymarine Hybridtouch electronics with Cyclone radar, elegant custom tile backsplashes, beautiful neutral fitted and bound rugs throughout, Starlink satellite internet, and a Spectra watermaker.  Cruise ready with ABT-Trac hydraulic fin stabilizers, Sidepower bow and stern thrusters, a comprehensive electronics package, luxury interior appointments, and more, she’s ready to carry you in style to the destinations of your dreams.

Additional details follow while more extensive specifications and information on the Krogen Express 52′ can be found elsewhere on our website.

Hull Design
Designed by James Krogen, the Krogen Express 52′ combines classic, timeless style with exceptional seakeeping and efficiency. Her plumb stem, raised bow, and broad beam forward allow her to slice through the waves with ease while providing a great deal of living space in her accommodations. Her low profile allows her to get under bridges as low as 15′ and with a draft of just 4′, she’ll take you almost anywhere. Her semi-displacement hull delivers trawler-like efficiency at displacement speeds with true cruise capabilities in the mid-to-upper teens. And her generous keel provides stability and protection for her twin propellers.

Flybridge & Boat Deck
While her pilothouse is fully capable, most Krogen Express owners prefer operating their vessels up top where they can better experience her cruising capabilities.  Conversations are easy as little engine noise makes its way up here, leaving only the soothing sounds of sea breezes and ocean waves with which to compete.  A frameless venturi windscreen deflects air above the captain sitting in the comfortable, raised centerline Stidd helm chair.  Matching Raymarine electronics provides full navigational support along with the large Danforth compass while a Standard Horizon VHF radio provides communications. Controls for the Sidepower bow and stern thrusters, Lenco electric trim tabs, and Maxwell windlass are close at hand.  The Raymarine 4′ HD open array radar scanner is mounted on an aluminum spar-style mast that can be lowered with an electric winch when needed.  Shaded by a light grey Sunbrella bimini top, the L-settee provides ample seating for crew and guests and contains storage beneath for the extensive canvas package as well as a properly vented propane locker.  Situated aft of the settee, the open boat deck easily accommodates two folding deck chairs and serves as access to the 11′ Nautica 4-seat luxury console tender. This is the ideal place to enjoy a cup of morning coffee or catch a beautiful evening sunset. The dinghy, with a raised console and seating for 4, is powered by a 25 hp 4-stroke fuel injected Yamaha outboard and launched with the fully hydraulic Steelhead davit.

Fore & Side Decks
Access forward is simple with just two easy steps to the wide side decks on both sides and a single step just forward of the pilothouse Dutch doors.  A high rail inspires confidence and a feeling of safety and the crew will find line handling simplified compared to similar vessels with raised bulwarks and fashion plates covering side decks.  The two spring cleats, mounted conveniently on the toe rails, couldn’t be easier for securing lines, while the lack of a Portuguese bridge makes for quick passage forward.  Deck fills for fuel and water can be found on both sides mid ships while the waste pumpout is forward to starboard.  On the port side of the pilothouse forward are secondary 50A shorepower and cable TV connection points.  The Spade plow style anchor can be retrieved easily by her Maxwell Liberty windlass with foot pedals located to port and can be cleaned by either the raw water or fresh water washdowns.  The compartmented anchor locker is accessed by a ship quality Freeman deck hatch and houses the ground tackle, comprised of 50′ of 3/8″ high test galvanized chain and 200′ of 3/4″ line.  A ladder ensures easy access below and there is ample additional space for fenders, lines, and washdown hose.

  • Foot pedals for windlass
  • 60 lb. stainless steel Ultra anchor mounted to port allows second anchor (not present) to be mounted to starboard

Engine Room
With over 6′ height on the centerline, the exceptionally clean, stand-up, walk-in engine room is accessed through a weathertight aluminum door with observation window.  Her powerful 480 hp Yanmar diesels can be easily accessed all around.  The engines are fired by dedicated AGM starting batteries and drive through matched Yanmar/Kanzaki transmissions.  Vibration is kept to a minimum with the standard Aqua Drive systems.  The 12kw Northern Lights genset sits on the centerline and is easily serviced.  A Reverso fluid changing system is connected to both engines, both transmissions, and the genset to improve serviceability, while a Groco fuel transfer pump makes equalizing the tanks a breeze.  As with the water tanks, diesel fuel levels can be easily assessed with convenient sight tubes.  A Seafire automatic fire suppression system, freshwater washdown, and storage for tools and supplies above and alongside the large water tanks are additional features welcomed by her owners.

  • Twin Yanmar 480 hp 6-cylinder turbo diesels, 1100 hours
