Just like most of the components on your Krogen Express, the prop spurs need annual maintenance to ensure they are functioning properly and to increase their longevity. It is recommended that on your annual haul out, have the prop spurs checked and have a maintenance / rebuild kit installed. Annual maintenance is required to make sure everything is properly functioning, will lessen any noise, and will give you peace of mind. The kit includes the zinc, wear bearing, sound dampening plugs and stationary screws.

It is a good idea to carry a couple extra kits on board with you. These kits are small enough to easily store and in case of an emergency, can be installed quickly by any qualified diver. For example, if your sound dampening plugs are missing, or have fallen out, this can cause a loud rattle. This situation could be quickly addressed and fixed if you carry spare kits on board.

Price for the kits are about $45.00 and are very easy to install.  Any qualified boat yard will be able to install the kits without too much time needed.  The kits can also be installed under water, by a qualified diver, if maintenance is required before your annual haul out. While very simple, replacing the components in the rebuild kit will promote longevity and proper function of your prop spurs. If a more thorough service is required, the factory offers reconditioning the whole assembly with a one business day turnaround time. The reconditioning includes the rebuild kit, along with glass blasting and cleaning, re-sharpening of blades, and a tolerance and wear check. Pricing for this service is around $125.00 per side through Spurs Marine in Ft. Lauderdale. Prop spurs will need to be removed and sent in to Spurs Marine.  Our experience is that if time is a consideration, replacement of the parts in the maintenance kit is sufficient.  Should you decide to have them rebuilt, however, their contact information is as follows:
